Sebastien Notre on his love of collage

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Sebastien Notre studied womenswear in Paris before moving to Central Saint Martins. His attraction to paintings and collages came through his research for his school projects. It did not take long to understand that he got more pleasure collecting images and merging them together than in designing and sewing clothes.

The process: finding objects aesthetically appealing and creating a visual around them or clients can propose a selection of products and he will give them a different dimension putting them in new visual context.

“One of my favourite illustrator is Masao Saito. For fashion, Halston and Muccia Prada without hesitation. Talking about objects or interiors, i particulary cherish Les Lalanne and Tony Duquette.

Artists: Greer Lankton, George Condo or Nicole Wermers  ….

I regularly use all these references in my work but also old merchandising magazines, film sets etc.”
Later,
