Dear Shaded Viewers,

After a chat with the artist Laura Boulay I asked her to send me this image of ‘the Burkah’.

The burqa is just an ordinary garment. It is not a religious symbol. It was invented by males to hide females.

Basically, women belong to men. Most men are against the emancipation of women.

It used to be the same in Europe not long ago.

Prison or shelter, the burqa is one of the last representations of the dominant male society.

My sculpture is a symbol of this strong hold on women.”
