Jeff Koons has offered a Bouquet of Tulips to the city of Paris and the french people as a symbolic sign of friendship. 130 years ago France offered the USA the Statue of Liberty. Jeff Koons wished to express the extraordinary Franco-American friendship that has continued for more than 200 years by creating Bouquet of Tulips. This followed a discussion between Jeff Koons and Madame Jane D. Hartley, US Ambassador to France and Monaco. Bouquet of Tulips evokes the hand of the Statue of Liberty that holds the torch. Madame Anne Hidalgo, Mayor of Paris, said that the monumental work is a symbol of the generosity and sharing between France and the United States. She went on to say that the Bouquet of Tulips is destined to be part of the heritage of Paris as the Statue of Liberty is to the patrimony of New York.
