Dear Shaded Viewers,
The last time I attended a Maya Hansen catwalk was in 2010 during Valencia Fashion Week, where she turned out a severe parade of corsets. Now, I love a good corset—and Hansen does them well—but I seem to recall that the collection she showed then was impractical, as it veered toward fetishism. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
At her recent show in Madrid, the corset details were still there, but the silhouettes were mercifully more relaxed. She’s also proved herself to be a master of metallics, evidenced by her showstopping crinkled gold and silver foil ballet dresses and voluminous skirts.
Besos,
Glenn Belverio
