Diane Pernet and Marco de Rivera – A magical studio visit in 2015 with Paolo Calia – photos by Paolo Calia

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Five years ago Marco de Rivera and I paid a visit to the amazing studio at the Frigo of artist Paolo Calia.

The idea was to have Paolo Calia give a masterclass at ASVOFF 5. Not sure why that never happened but for sure sometime in the future.

Born in Italy, Paolo Calia is a multi-disciplinary artist, sometimes painter, fashion photographer or decorator.  In the 1970s, he was a student of Federico Fellini and participated in the sets of the film Casanova.

Since the 1970s, he has been living in France and has been one of the directors of some of the capital’s most popular parties, including the decoration of several Parisian nightclubs, including the famous Palace. In the 1980s, he designed the record sleeves for the group Indochine and the singer Sapho. Today he lives in Frigos of Paris where he has created a baroque place where he can give free rein to his creativity.

Later,

Diane
