“Tab Hunter Confidential” (October 12)

Monday night, I was at the Film Forum for the New York premiere screening of the new documentary "Tab Hunter Confidential".

The film documents actor Tab Hunter's rise and fall from Hollywood as a 1950's screen idol/teen heartthrob singer ("Young Love") to performing in B movies, bad television shows and dinner theater.

It also, is about Tab's image as an "all American boy" while keeping hidden his homosexuality – including a relationship with actor Anthony Perkins.

There are many well known directors, actors & actresses interviewed onscreen – such as Clint Eastwood, John Waters, George Takei, Robert Wagner, Debbie Reynolds and others.

Tab Hunter comes across as a very decent, nice guy who really didn't care if he stayed at the top in Hollywood.

After the screening, the film's producer (and Tab's longtime partner) Allan Glaser and Tab Hunter were interviewed onstage.

There were also people in attendance that were in the film – actor George Takei, film historian Robert Osborne and actor Gary Cooper's daughter Maria Cooper.

The event carried on into the theater lobby where Tab signed copies of 2005 book by Tab Hunter & Eddie Muller "Tab Hunter Confidential: The Making of a Movie Star".
