MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK TBILISI – LITKOVSKAYA FALL WINTER 15/16 – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Hailing from Ukraine, Lilia Litkovskaya is one of the country's most accomplished and talented designers, reconciling meticulous technique with an expressive edge. Her womenswear show, which was presented during the first edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tbilisi, was a complete standout, innovative and wearable at once. The designer's outerwear was stunning, with oversize coats that were often reversible, using deluxe materials, such as silk, mohair and wool. Litkovskaya gave ruffles a contemporary twist, crafting gorgeous separates in intense red, one of the collection's key shades. I loved the way she balanced pastels with harder tones, expressing a subtle androgyny, which came to define her clothes. Her attention to detail was impressive, too, from the way garments were made to intricate linings and finishing touches. Her confident hand shone through in her treatment of seemingly simple items, such as an incredible cream and black ensemble, which felt directional and timeless at the same time.

Best,

Philippe
