ICONES AMERICAINES – BY JALEESA THIJM

Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,

Icones Americaines features works from the painting and sculpture collection of San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, highlighting fourteen of the most outstanding American artists of the 20th century. The gallery at the Grand Palais was filled with large size paintings and sculptures of Carl Andre, Alexander Calder, Chuck Close, Richard Diebenkorn, Dan Flavin, Philip Guston, Donald Judd, Ellsworth Kelly, Sol LeWitt, Roy Lichtenstein, Brice Marden, Agnes Martin, Cy Twombly and last but not least Andy Warhol. Audience can view their favourite iconic paintings in real life, as well as discovering other works from well-known American artists. The exhibition puts the focus on the singularity of the artist rather than the art movements or style. Icones Americaines is open to visitors from April 8 until June 22 at Grand Palais, Paris.

Best,

Jaleesa
