SEOUL FASHION WEEK SS/15 – BEYOND CLOSET – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

One of Seoul's most successful menswear brands, Beyond Closet had rebellious boys in mind, who probably think they are too cool for school. Starting with the idea of the uniform and deconstructing it, the collection mixed American staples with loose shapes, using layering as a way to keep the silhouette fresh. Beyond Closet stands for comfortable and playful basics, which are fun and unpretentious. Seoul guys gravitate towards the brand, which feels genuine and masculine. Embroidered baseball jackets and leather track pants were winners this season, as well as subdued floral prints conjuring up the 1950s. Think Marlon Brando meets Honolulu.

Best,

Philippe
