Frank Gehry’s Fondation Louis Vuitton Opens today

Dear Shaded Viewers,

It was a perfect day to visit the Fondation Louis Vuitton which opened to the public. There was a very long line of anxious guests all having reserved their tickets which cost 14 euros. It had been free for the public this weekend but not anymore.  The cost of admission did not stop the  well heeled crowd from waiting nearly an hour just to get in. The glass, steel and wood structure plays with light and open space and  covers 12,000 sq. meters. The building took over 5 years to complete. The structure houses  art galleries, a museum and cultural event spaces. Some of the scheduled cultural events,  like Kraftwerk and Lang Lang,  are already sold out.  Marco de Rivera and I loved it. It is monumental yet intimate if you can imagine that.

Later,
