Fashioned Out! PARIS BY DIANE PERNET AND DISCIPLE FILMS 2003

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Back in 2000-2005  Alex Czetwertynski and I collaborated on a series of short fashion films. Fashioned Out was a project commissioned by Galleries Lafayette in 2003. Coming Soon Fashioned Out – London, NYC and Milan 2004.

I'd been shooting fashion films before I'd met Alex in 2000 but I did not know how to edit. My friend Brian Beker bought me a mac and final cut pro but I was having trouble following the tutorial and Brian was getting tired of answering so many endless questions so he directed me to a final cut pro support website where he said someone somewhere in the world would always be on line to answer my questions.  That is how I met Alex. I remember I was a little concerned with the name Disciple Films because his question on the support site  was how do you black out the face and I thought maybe this is a porno site but hey, I contacted him anyway  and he taught me how to edit and then we started our collaboration.  It lasted about  5 years and formed the basis of my fashion film foundation.

Our summer project at ASVOFF Headquarters is to have Juan Enrique Villarreall go through the fashion archives that I still have and  capture some of that history and give it to you. Some of the designers have gone on to great success like Raf Simons, Haider Ackermannand KTZ's Marjan Pejoski while others have totally disappeared, at least from the limelight. They probably still exist behind a big brand but who knows where they are. Maybe they left fashion altogether.

Later,

Diane
