Dear Shaded Viewers,

It is very hot in Aswan today and I probably have sunburn from the African sun during my walk to the Fatimid Cemetery. When I saw this blue-powder-covered imam's grave, I realized that a few years ago I had a dream about visiting this place.

This evening I fly to Cairo to have dinner with the designers from Sabry Marouf at my hotel at the airport….I hope they called off the mass demonstrations at the airport to protest the alleged nepotistic appoinment of President Morsi's son to a reportedly high-paid position at the airport. I think he turned down the job because of the uproar. And again, Egypt is safe. Come here and just think of the demonstrations in cinematic terms, and you'll love it.

Tuesday morning I fly back to cold, dull New York.
