Adel Abdessemed Joueur de FLute 1996
Dear Shaded Viewers,
After a nice lunch with Federico Poletti we went to the Palazzo Grassi to see the video installations and the wonderful Francois Pinault private collection. There were some interesting films, one was an intimate look into the mind of a killer and another a conversation with a guy that has many fish tanks and how the fish do not like being looked at.
Abdulnasser Gharem, the artist, came up to me and asked to have a photo with me and then il principe Carlo Giovannelli asked for an introduction and before you knew it there were at least 6 photographers taking our photo. I then went up to look at Abdulnasser's video and hear about the cultural situation for artists in Saudi Arabia. No galleries, museums, however he has found his way into many collections such as Palazzo Grassi and the Victorian & Albert Museum.
