A VISIT TO JAN-JAN VAN ESSCHE’S SHOWROOM – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

It was lovely catching up with Jan-Jan Van Essche this afternoon and have a look at his latest collection. Using beautiful fabrics and handicraft techniques, his clothes are timeless and make you feel good at the same time. You want to wrap yourself in his knits and enjoy the comfort of his shirts. His outerwear pieces are fantastic as well. This season, Jan-Jan offered a stunning take on the traditional kimono, which I absolutely loved.

Shapes were geometric and garments seemed simple, but there were a lot of details on each piece. The best thing about Jan-Jan is that he looks great in his collection, whatever you ask him to try on. Everything is produced in Belgium, too, which is a bonus.

You still have one day to view the collection at Jan-Jan's showroom on 4 rue de Saintonge, 75003 Paris.

Best,

Philippe
