Dear Shaded Viewers,
I enjoyed my visit to Marimekko's headquarters, located in Helsinki. The Finnish company -which was founded in 1951 by Viljo and Armi Ratia- is famous for its iconic prints and use of bright colors. Throughout its history, the company has grown and developed, including womenswear, kidswear and home furnishings, as well as interior design. We were given a tour of the showroom and factory itself, which was pretty impressive.
After the tour, we all gathered around a lovely laid out table for lunch, viewing selected styles from the new collection.

Philippe Pourhashemi
A freelance fashion writer, consultant and stylist, Philippe Pourhashemi was born in Tehran in 1976. He grew up in Paris, before moving to Scotland to study Foreign Languages. His passions are fashion and culture, as well as music and film.
