‘COME TOUCH THE ROCK’ BY NARELLE DORE AT RA

Dear Diane and dear Shaded Viewers,

After growing her unique crystal rock garden over the past month at RA, Australian designer Narelle Dore invited people yesterday for an 'interactive evening' with her living sculpture prior to dismantling her crystallized creation.

Narelle: "I re-made an installation in the backroom of RA that was a part of the "RA Sugar House" at Arnhem Mode Biennale in June this year and that was titled 'Women at Sitting Rock'. It consists of a wooden chair that comes out of rock that I grew salt crystals over. The crystals are very fragile and seeing as though most people wanted to touch the crystals from the installation, I invited people to the event 'Come Touch the Rock', so they can touch them, which inevitably destroys them."

Guests could also enjoy a special edition of the RA Kitchen's Thursday Night Menu, with Hadas Cnaani's cooking inspired by the colours and crystals of Narelle's installation.
The starter: red beet, mozarella and lavas salad with black salt crystal.
