Greetings from Fortaleza, Brazil. By Glenn Belverio

Dear Diane & our Shaded Viewers,

I’m here in rainy, humid Fortaleza at the invitation of ABIT/APEX covering Dragao Fashion Brasil for A Shaded View and today we were taken on a whirlwind tour of the city. Incidentally, it’s Fortaleza’s 500th anniversary today and when we drove by Praia de Iracema we saw them setting up for a big celebratory concert taking place this evening. The headliner is Daniela Mercury, the famous singer from Salvador da Bahia, who is a friend of my pal Camille Paglia.

Our hotel is kind of out in the middle of rural nowhere, right on Praia do Futuro (“Future Beach”). There are wild donkeys roaming around the area and vast, empty fields.

Simone from ABIT took us out for a lovely lunch at Coco Bambu where we had a traditional Brazilian beach dish, Camaroes Beira Mar: shrimp in pumpkin and cream sauce served in a half of a pumpkin grown in a local field.

Stay tuned for my full fashion report in a few days.

Beijos,

Glenn
