SEOUL FASHION WEEK S/S 11 – S=YZ – TEXT BY PHILIPPE POURHASHEMI

Dear Shaded Viewers,

If Korean menswear has a style of its own -which could be defined as a clever mix between sportswear, tailoring and luxe minimalism- the womenswear shows I have seen so far are much more diverse and complex, with different types of clients in mind. I liked the directness and urban feel of S=YZ, a collection designed by Yujin Song and Juyeon Jo. It was their first show during Seoul Fashion Week and their work reminded me of early Jean Colonna. Using leopard print, sexy cuts and dangerous black, they delivered a clear and coherent message.

I loved the sleeveless biker waistcoat worn with an animal print skirt and open sandals.

Best,
