Dear Shaded Readers,
The book is based on a site specific project by costume curator Judith Clark and psychoanalyst Adam Phillips which took place in London from 28 April to 27 June Blythe House.
"We tend to assume that clothes are functional but in truth, they are full of sly (and often bold) allusions to nonsense, dreaming and desire (The ruffle. The tie. The patterned stocking.) If clothes are on some level , the manifestation of a collective reverie. What does contemporary fashion reveal to us about the unconscious aspirations of London in the early 21st century?"
