Maaike Mekking references time and ritual, evoking films like Badlands (1973) and Christiane F (1981). She appropriates class mens looks, the leather biker jacket, a white tee shirt and denim jeans creating a spirited modern and feminine wardrobe with palatable edginess.
THe Dutch born, London based designer received her MA from the Royal College of Art, after school she worked for Alexander McQueen, Humanoid and ALberta Ferretti and then launched her own signature collection.
