waiting for Guy Maddin and WInnipeg mon amour at Centre Pompidou

I should have been home packing but I could not resist a chance to hear Guy Maddin talk about and screen his film WInnipeg mon amour. The film opens in Paris next Wednesday 21st October but in the meantime Centre Pompidou is having a Guy Maddin retrospective until November 7th.

I loved it and dog lovers will appreciate the short Spanky: To the Pier and Back shot in 2008, 4″ unedited that was screened before Winnipeg mon amour. Unfortunately Spanky died after the making of the film. Guy said he had the dog running a lot and maybe he killed him, he knows of course that he did not but none the less. even more than a year later, he got visibly choked up. Any dog lover would understand that.
