Illustrator/Artist Paola Piglia-The Decalogue “In Bed with Madonna”

LU First commandement

You shall have no other gods before me.

Dear Shaded Viewers,

For the last two decades I've been an admirer of the work of Paola Piglia. Paola was born in Turin, Italy and graduated from UC Berkeley and is now finishing her PhD in Philosophy of Communications with EGS. We met in New York in 1987, she moved to London and in between spent a few years in Paris. Her editorial work features regularly in the Frankfuter, Vogue, GQ, The New York Times Magazine, LIFE, Time, The Atlantic Monthly, etc. And I have a beautiful illustration of hers hanging on my wall. She loves birds, has a beautiful son and lives with several parrots. The book was presented at the Frankfurt Book fair last year.

Im Boot mit Madonna 72

The series of images are The Decalogue. They were originally published separately (monthly) as a double page spread inthe German Magazine Chrismon under the Art Direction of Judith Fuss. German fiction authors such as Doris Dorrie wrote some of the short stories that are loosely connected with each of the commandments (in the same way that Krzysztof Kieslowski treated this subject).

LU 7th commandment crop

You shall not commit adultery.

LU thou shall not kill
You shall not murder

3. Name of God in vain
You shall have no other gods before me.

LU Sabbath
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
