Dear Shaded Viewers,
MMM celebrates their 20th anniversary, there were fire cracker birthday cakes and bubbles falling from the sky, the history of the house was exposed and curated with tenderness and humor.
This was also a highlight, a devotee of Maison Martin Margiela, so much so that she only wears MMM, was asked to choose looks from her own closet and style them as she so desired. The client is a doctor. This idea of a client modeling their own wardrobe will be a continued theme as the exhibition travels. Next stop is Germany.
If I had to choose a favorite collection of MMM it would have to be the Trompe l’Oeil. Trompe l’Oeil was the central theme of the sceneography and a consistent element of the Maison Martin Margiela.
I was very happy to run into les Hommes as I entered the exhibition. Handsome Sebastien Meunier
The exhibition was a close collaboration between scenographer, Bob Verhelst, who knows Martin Margiela since school days not to mention he worked with the Maison for 8 years and obviously continues to today.
I am always happy to meet Shaded Viewers, and they always seem to be super cool.

The Exhibition will be up until 8 February 2009. Highly recommended.
Later,
