Dear Shaded Viewers,
I can hardly believe this. I just spent one hour writing to you, walked away to make a cup of tea, came back to find an error message and to note that my post had disappeared. I’m jet lagged still so I am going to make this one a bit more brief. Last day in LA had me viewing the amazing house of James Goldstein at 9h with my friends David Norbury and Brian Leitch. Google James and take a look at his John Lautner house. Pictures can only set the mood, the reality is beyond description. The space, the views, the garden and the James Turrell structure built to give you a cinematic view of the sunrise and sunset from the angle of lying prostrate on a leather bed on the floor. I cannot describe the emotion and the vision of it properly. With the help of my friends David Norbury and Brian Leitch, I’ll post a short film of it later this month. It was too difficult to navigate the space with my parisol and still shooting the film so I asked them both to take over. Afterwards David drove me to his beautiful house and made me breakfast. THen we went to Decades to say good bye to the wonderful Cameron ‘Norway’ Silver before going back to share my last moments with the delightful Cherry Vanilla over lunch.
I had the choice, did I drive to San Francisco with Dino and Walter or did I opt to accept the invitation of my dearest friend Brian Beker and fly in his private plane. The decision was not all that difficult to make. We asked Steve Olson if he wanted to fly with us so that Brian could have some company on the way back and because we both love Steve Olson. Problem was that he had a skate board event and even thought under normal circumstances he would have joined us in a heartbeat, he couldn’t. Brian flies like an angel in the sky. I might add that it was also my first time in a private plane. When we arrived we were met by my sister and then went to visit the rest of my family in Oakland. The plan was to meet up with Dino in SF and sort out tonights event but he got started late and was not going to arrive in SF until after midnight and my sister lives north of Berkley and it was not going to be possible to figure this out. If you live in SF and are going to join us tonight there might possibly be 3 screenings. For sure there is 8h , then 9h30-10h and we will figure the last one, llh after their dinner service, sometime late afternoon. Here are the details. if you are thinking of the llh one, please contact SUPPERCLUB to confirm that it is happening.
Supperclub 657 Harrison Street San Fraqncisco 4153480900. The venue is small so prepare to arrive early.
See you later,
Diane
P.S. I am going to steal a line from Michel Mallard at the festival d’Hyeres when he says, and now I say, that I’m not into giving prizes and for me the fact the film was selected by our jury meant that it was already a winner of the You Wear it Well festival. Thank you all once again for your amazing films and your participation and for those of you in San Francisco, see you tonight.
