Today I finally had the chance to meet my friend, Cypriot choreographer Maria Hassabi. Maria lives in New York, and she is one of the most valid choreographers on the planet. Her fans include BJORK, MADONNA ( for whom she was a pilates instructor)..She was photographed by Inez Von Lamswerde & Vinoodh Matadin at a point for V magazine and she is also a muse for designers ASFOUR who actually did the costumes for her previews dance play DEAD IS DEAD in N.Y..
She is in Athens for the past week, after she presented her work at Skopia Festival of Dance as an Intepented choreographer representing New York. Her forthcoming work, due to be shown with the presence of Mikhail Baryshnikov next spring sounds promising, even as a tittle "STILL SMOKING". We met at Periskope Hotel, my favourite in the city, where some friends rent a suite for the night..Maria came wearing my present, a Maria Mastori headpiece made of Velvet.She looks amazing, don’t you think??
Here Maria is sitting with uber stylist Nicholas Georghiou who was one of the people involved in the "suite" incident.. After a cup of coffee Maria had to meet some magazine for an Interview and I had to go upstairs to meet my friends.
Behind Maria there was this beautifull animation film by Panos Germidis, showing various birds, reptiles and red lobsters in gigantic sizes walking on the ugly buildings of Athens. Something like KING KONG. It took my breath away.
Upstairs on the sixth floor now, my friends were glamorously waiting. Among them la divina Orsalia Parthenis, wearing her best and in the mood to leave a trademark. She was dressed in a long Satin dress and the most kinky high heels of the season ( for my opinion at least).
As we were not allowed to smo
ke in the room I went outside for a cigarette. Upstairs there was a private balkony with a beautifully view and it was gorgeous looking at the Parthenon from a higher level. Friend/ Photographer Irini Stavrakopoulou Followed me and confided that she’s thinking of moving to Paris..I thought that it is a good idea……
It’s a beautiful evening to fall in love but my worries about a future project don’t let me have fun. I hope I will get over it soon cause I have to start working… Irini looks beautiful with an ease
