I have to admit that walking through the Keith Haring ‘The Political Line’ exhibition at Musee d’Art Modern had me feeling a bit nostalgic for a time that had had a strong impact on my life

Dear Shaded Viewers,

I knew Keith from New York in the 80's but I never realized that he'd left Reading, Pennsylvania for New York in 1978, I left Philadelphia in 1977, that he died in 1990 and I moved to Paris end of 1990. What that means is nothing but I found it interesting anyway. Keith  was  one of the many tragic deaths from AIDS, he was 31 or 32 and there were far too many people dying at that age in NYC in the late 80's. In fact the disease obliterated nearly 80% of my neighborhood in the West Village.

Unfinished
Unfinished 1989 (this was done the year before he died, and was left unfinished. I think that that was the intention since he found out in 1988 that he'd been struck with AIDS, I don't think it was because he could not finish it ….but I don't know.

The exhibition takes us from the beginning of his career to the end. The exhibition shows us the importance of his work as a political statement that strung together his entire career.
