Moynat and their luxury leather goods and a one-of-a-kind Breakfast Trunk designed by Ramesh Nair

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Today I visited the oldest French trunk-makers, MOYNAT. Their first atelier was opened in Paris in 1849 by trunk makers Octavie and Francois Coulembier. Looking over the vintage luggage, I could not help but yearn for days gone by when travel was a luxury and going for a picnic in Saint Cloud was a weekend outing. Cars only went about 12 miles an hour.

Moynat's creative director and designer is Ramesh Nair who has explored the world of quirky travel, re-imagining his Indian family outings with a wicker hamper as a picnic bag that fits precisely on the back of a bicycle, just as the original Moynat curved trunks were made to fit early cars.
