Dear Diane, dear shaded viewers, I had the pleasure of talking with Maria Luisa Frisa on the occasion of the her book launch for "Walter Albini and his time ,the imagination to power" at the Nilufer gallery in Milan . Maria Luisa talked her research and the making up of the book. Rather than following a chronological journey the book is more like a "fresco" consisting of crucial moments in Albini's journey as the protagonist to the affirmation of his brand and the industrial production. HIs work encompassed parallel styles : fabrics, furnitures, glasses and objects. His vision of the postmodern woman, as he claimed during an interview was " strong, ambiguous, and she smoked and travelled a lot and was not necessarily married. Albini designed for this liberated woman. Signature looks include : the logo print, the beloved Gatsby look his unisex and androgynous version with a focus on the shirt jacket… He styled his own shows and his work left its mark on fashion.
