Dear Shaded Viewers,
Florent, the patron saint of the meat-market district in the West Village, New York City, the restaurant that started it all when it opened in August 1985, is closing its doors on June 29th. When I was in New York I spoke with the owner Florent Morellet, he told me that the landlord wanted to more than triple the rent, they were asking for $30,000 a month, when it opened three decades ago Florent Morellet was paying $1,350. Florent told us that for the last 5 weeks before the closing of Florent he will have themes: Denial, Anger, Bargaining, depression, acceptance -closing on Gay Pride Day. Florent is known for its friendly atmosphere, 24/7 hours and for serving good food at a good price.
