Katharina Prospekt. “The Russians” by A. F. Vandevorst at the Modenatie until February 5th, 2006 and Dead exhibits in Iceland till 30 October

Dear Shaded Viewers,

To date I have  never been invited to Russian fashion week but A F Vandervorst has participated in two different Russian fashion events. One was an  official fashion event and the other was an invitation by a client. Clearly the country left a strong impression on An Vandervorst and Filip Arickx. The exhibit reveals their impressions and is called Katharina Prospek, The Russians referring to one of the main boulevards.

We are immediately drenched in the atmosphere of a time gone by using the elements that have inspired the design team over the years: military uniforms and religious costumes, materials such as leather, felt, fur and the color red. Objects have been chosen from the historical collection of the State Historical Museum of Moscow.
Uniforms_1Boots_2
Uniforms are cut to perfection and their are entire constructions devoted to  the boot. A glass house is the setting for the  military uniforms. I could show you every part of the mise en scene but it is even better if you take a train and experience the expo first hand.
