Dear Shaded viewers,
The Sonia Carrasco show was presented in the heart of Le Marais, not far from l’Hotel de Ville. The warm interior, with stone walls, exposed beams, and wooden chairs, gave the impression of being in a countryside home. At the center of the room stood weaving equipment, recalling her particular interest in knitwear, a hallmark of each of her collections. A scenography that offered us a clear foretaste of the designer’s world.
The collection featured raw silhouettes, deconstructed suits with loose threads, contrasting topstitching shaped like arrows that seemed to guide us, cords falling along the legs, and thick fringes adorning both skirts and suit. All these elements reflect the value Sonia places on craftsmanship, both as a way of thinking and as a mode of creation. The sobriety of the looks allowed the red pieces, more discreet to stand out: sweaters, shirts, shoes, socks, mittens, and leg warmers.
Through her collections, Sonia Carrasco does not leave us indifferent to environmental issues. The message she conveys is crystal clear, asserting itself through local and eco-responsible craftsmanship.
The profiles depicted on the runway were casual yet chic, soft yet full of energy. Sonia reinvents contemporary tailoring with a practical, elegant, and ecological approach. The shirt collars she imagines are equally distinctive, whether knitted, barely visible, oversized, or asymmetrical. They make room for a reinvented tie, adorned with a simple silver brooch at the center of the knot, echoing the asymmetry of the collar. Sonia Carrasco embodies modernity, simplicity, and efficiency, her pieces are strong and rich with meaning.
The live drum music, for its part, evoked the traditional values woven into the garments by the designer. Like the clothing, the music felt alive: both were animated by celebration and freedom of movement, reminding us of our roots.
Later,
Alex.
