Glenn Belverio Onstage with Vaginal Davis & Stuart Comer at The Museum of Modern Art, “An Evening with Vaginal Davis.” October 13, 2025.

Dear Shaded Viewers,

My Sister of the Cloth and gal pal, Blacktress and Drag Queen Terrorist Vaginal Davis, has a traveling exhibition that recently landed at MoMA PS1: Vaginal Davis: Magnificent Product. The show spans five decades of Ms. Davis’ practice as a performer, visual artist, author, filmmaker, musician, educator, and counter-cultural icon.

Among the many works is my 1996 video One Man Ladies, an episode of my Manhattan Public Access series “Glennda and Friends.”  The video features Glennda Orgasm (my drag alter ego) and Ms. Davis meeting women on the streets of New York City to discuss Dr. Laura Schlessinger’s book Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives, a best seller that offers conservative and retrograde advice for single women. The pair explore the best ways modern women can find and secure a husband. The result is a humorous social critique of compulsory heterosexuality and mainstream feminism during the 1990s.

To celebrate Vaginal Davis: Magnificent Product, MoMA curator Stuart Comer invited Vag to curate a program of her films and videos for Stuart’s Modern “Makeout” Mondays series at The Museum of Modern Art’s Titus Theater. One Man Ladies was included in the program and there was a post-screening discussion between Stuart, me and Ms. Davis (full video above, courtesy of The Museum of Modern Art). What a thrill to have my work shown on the big MoMA screen and to appear on stage at this sold-out screening! (My friend Katie remarked, “I feel like your whole Glennda redux tour had been leading up to this moment.”)

Vag, Stuart and I discussed the art of DIY filmmaking, how I met Vag in LA back in 1992, working together on One Man Ladies, the Goddess Bunny and more.

Love,
