Ruby On The Nail : Let us be entertained by Mael Heinz

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Summer is coming! While a few sparkling nights still lie ahead with the upcoming Men’s Fashion Week. I have the duty to tell  you where to go for the next 2 months. Remember that Paris is closed in July and August ! Luckily, if you fancy some outdoor kiki filled with laughter and the scent of night-blooming flowers, I’ve got just the name for you : Ruby On The Nail !

Ruby is your girl next door performer who captured hearts as the 1st Runner-Up of Drag Race France Season 3. A queen who blends French clumsiness with American showbiz flair, Ruby is as hilarious as she is endearing. (If you missed the couture challenge, go back and treat yourself.) Her drag is unapologetically camp, rejecting intellectualism and stock feminine tropes in favor of raw Broadway emotion. Many of us are still trembling from her iconic lipsync of Barbra Streisand’s “People”—a moment of pure, disarming emotion.

Now, like any great Broadway heroine, Ruby has made her theatrical debut. This past season, she wrapped a first run of TopCoat, a play she wrote herself and co-created with director Corentin Joël Boisgard. The plot? A band of nail-polishing queens revolt against their boss—none other than Ruby herself. The show was a vivid reflection of her chaotic brilliance: the entire venue transformed into a stage, where every performer enjoyed a climactic, high-voltage moment. It was an exuberant display of next-gen queer talent. Among them, Madeleine Flamboyante stood out with a thunderous voice and electrifying presence. TopCoat was met with enthusiastic applause last winter and is set to return this September.

Ruby doesn’t stop at theater. She’s also the hostess of La Boîte à Bijoux, a long-running revue held at Le Cavern, a tiny bar nestled in the 6th arrondissement. For years, Ruby has curated nights of glorious chaos, inviting a dazzling lineup of unconventional performers to dazzle an intimate (and tightly packed) audience. The show distilled the true essence of drag: a celebration of self-creation without compromise, filtered through humor, emotion, and excess.

Ruby On The Nail is more than a performer she’s a powerhouse ! A thriving voice in the LGBT community who build bridges for the upcoming queer talents, in the whole spectrum of creativity. If we had to depict her personnality in a brodway standard, it’s without a doubt Let me entertain you ! And let me tell you, we definetely have a real good time , yes sir !
