Elie Top – Biography
Originally from flamande, Elie Top’s passion for drawing began at a very young age.
that Elie Top was introduced to the world of jewelry. He left his native Nord at the age of 17 to study
in Paris, at the Ecoles de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne, before joining Yves Saint
Laurent at 19, Yves Saint Laurent, where he made the decisive encounters that would shape his
vocation,forge his taste and shape his working approach: Yves Saint Laurent himself, of course,
whose rigor, exacting standards and integrity he retained, with designer Loulou de la Falaise, a
master of audacious blends of aristocratic casualness, and then and Alber Elbaz, with his insatiable
creative research, who, called upon to succeed the master, confie him, at the age of 21, the creation
of his first jewelry pieces. This was the beginning of a collaboration that continued at Lanvin
for more than ten years. The “bijou couture” triumphs there, and is brought up to date,
displaying its exuberance and relevance season after season. At the same time, Elie
continued to collaborate with other houses, which led him to Baccarat, where he signed, for
the first time under his own name, the Bouchons de Carafe collection.
Buoyed by these successes, he decided to create the jewelry that would bear his name: the
house of Elie Top was born in 2015. The result is a world distinguished by a pronounced
taste for strong lines and assertive volumes, with baroque and futuristic accents. The result
is jewelry with a playful, surprising character that plays on eras and styles to capture the
present moment, striking the right balance between tradition and innovation.
