Damien Moulierac Lithurgy of Despair by Mael Heinz

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Fall is a melancholic season. But as Albert Camus said, you’ll have to get through life with an invincible summer in your mind. Nevertheless, if you want to get through this cold season with fun, go to Betrand Grimont for the first exhibition of Damien Moulierac. In his first show Cordialement, Damien exhibit an ensemble of work that is about lost innocence. Cartoonesque objects are stained, tainted with turpentine. Because Damien reveals the emptiness of our pop culture. Colorful objects or messages are in fact desperate in order to deal with our inner turmoil. His kitsch chachkis struck you due to the fact that they are  hanging in an apocalyptic world . On the other room of the gallery, you see word carved in marble.“It’s what stays in us, for the good or the bad” Damien says. Crève or dsl (short way of désolé, sorry in French)

Damien also managed to place artworks that directed the vision. Paper planes molded in steel are above some artworks. However the  His sculptures group
Les Maux d’amour (maux means wounds sounds like mots words) are white flowers molded in acrylic resin. At first the white coating gives them a classical aspect. But with a closer look, you can spot numerous objects from our times. These allusion to classical arts makes you feel his despair. Especially when the sadness of the flowers contrast with the MCCain Kid Smile at their feet. Those flowers were at beginning an ensemble but Damien decided to separate them. That intuitive sense of space makes you turn around the sculptures constantly. No wonder why Rahim Redcar chose him to makes his live scenographies in 2022.Damien knew how to make us think about the feeling we get though objects, Sacred or vulgar. You might not be convinced, but remember that Picasso had the reputation to be messy and that most of his sculptures are recycled materials melted in brass. In the end, he want us to see the light though his catharsis because the exhibition. The last sculpture is a carved “merci” because his grandmother told him he’ll get thought life. We can confirm it works ! Run to see him in this  European Patrimonial weekend ! He’s gonna be France pride soon
