“You Are The Snake” Part 1: Laura Albert in conversation with Juliet Escoria

“I didn’t want a happy ‘now I’m all better’ type of stories, but I did want some that were showing the complications and nuances of what it means to be given this 9th chance at life, or 7th chance at life or however many chances I was actually given, and what a gift that is.” Juliet Escoria on her new collection of stories “You Are The Snake.”

In the first part of our conversation, Juliet reveals that most of her stories from “You Are The Snake” are based on events that have happened to her—and that’s some harrowing shit. I love this book so much and so will you.
