Dear Shaded Viewers,

In a remarkable intersection of art and fashion, Carla Sozzani, the revered figure in the world of fashion, has embarked on a unique collaboration with Byronesque. This partnership is not just a union of two fashion powerhouses, but a celebration of Fondazione Sozzani’s thirty-three-year devotion to the arts and sustainable fashion.

Byronesque, known for its avant-garde approach and reverence for fashion history, is launching an exclusive collection that draws from Carla Sozzani’s private archives. This collection is a testament to Sozzani’s discerning eye, featuring iconic runway pieces from designers like Alaïa, Balenciaga, Comme des Garçons, and Junya Watanabe. But this endeavor is more than a showcase of luxury fashion; it’s a narrative of fashion’s evolution and its intertwining with art.

The opening of this collaboration  is marked by an innovative concept: a gallery gift shop by Byronesque that envisions a world devoid of Carla Sozzani and the Fondazione’s visionary influence. This bold concept not only pays homage to Sozzani’s impact but also invites us to reflect on the absence of such pivotal figures in the fashion and art landscape.

Over the years, Fondazione Sozzani has not only championed but also shaped the dialogue around art and fashion. The foundation’s collaboration with luminaries like Annie Leibovitz, Sarah Moon, Nick Waplington, Irving Penn, and Paolo Roversi has etched an indelible mark on the cultural fabric of our times.

Gill Linton of Byronesque captures this sentiment eloquently. “Imagine a world bereft of the art and fashion that the Fondazione champions,” she posits. This imaginative exercise is at the heart of Byronesque’s gallery gift items, developed in collaboration with writer Andrea Mason and art director Paul Hetherington. These items, more than mere products, are a form of high art and fashion storytelling.

Adding a personal touch, a limited number of these gallery items, including thoughtfully designed posters, sustainable beakers, and oversized tote bags, will be hand-delivered to a select group of press and friends of Fondazione and Byronesque. This gesture, supported by Worldnet as ‘the patron saints of delivery’, adds an exclusive and intimate dimension to the collaboration, just in time for Christmas. I admit, I am now the happy owner of the sustainable beaker and oversized tote bag.

The collection, a blend of fashion history and contemporary creativity, will be available for pre-order and sale in mid-December. Importantly, all profits are directed towards supporting Fondazione Sozzani, reinforcing the commitment to fostering art and sustainable fashion practices.

This collaboration between Carla Sozzani and Byronesque is more than a momentary fusion of two entities; it’s a celebration of legacy, creativity, and the enduring power of art and fashion to inspire and provoke thought. It’s a reminder of how fashion, in its purest form, is not just about clothing but about the stories, histories, and visions that these garments carry within their threads.
