Balenciaga launched its first Skiwear collection on November 15, 2023, available worldwide in stores and on balenciaga.com. This line features an extensive range of winter sports products including ready-to-wear apparel, accessories, and equipment. The collection is known for its use of innovative materials and techniques aimed at enhancing visibility, insulation, aerodynamics, and protection. It includes functional sports equipment like snowboards, skis, helmets, and poles for various winter activities.
The collection offers parkas and cargo pants made from ripstop with integrated gaiters, sophisticated ventilation systems, battery chargers, and ski pass-designed pockets. Classic Balenciaga silhouettes like the Hourglass jacket and Puffer are reimagined in quilted matte nylon vests, stretchy nylon ski pants, and snug fleece jackets.
Outerwear in the collection is water-repellent, keeping wearers warm and dry. Most items are available in black, grey, or red. Thermal pieces include hoodies and long-sleeve tops with half-zips in thick fleece, chunky knit, ribbed wool, or faux mink fur.
There are durable ripstop padded gloves that attach to jacket sleeves, and ribbed knit beanies with foldable sunglasses. The collection also features leggings, socks, masks, gloves, and scarves specifically designed for cold weather, marked with a reflective Balenciaga sports logo.
Technical wear like waterproof fleece-lined stretch denim jeans and the ski backpack with pole attachments, and the ski belt bag, all made from water-repellent recycled nylon, offer a casual look on and off the slopes.
The Alaska boot, designed for arctic conditions, features oversized proportions and a strong style statement. It’s made from nylon, leather, or faux fur, with thermal lining. The 3XL Ski Sneaker is a snow-ready version of the original 3XL, equipped with water-resistant inner lining and detachable spiked crampons.
Balenciaga snowboards and skis are available in two sizes, featuring the brand logo on their white base and a mirrored Titanium top with the B sports logo. The ski poles come in two sizes and the hiking poles are retractable. A Balenciaga helmet, created in collaboration with ski equipment brand Briko, is available in three sizes.
Additionally, Balenciaga introduced a fun game for the launch, adding an interactive and playful element to this innovative collection.
