Dear Shaded Viewers,
I met Lilia Litkovska a little before Christmas and was very impressed by her strength and passion for her work and for her team. She let me know the conditions she and her team endured putting this collection together. Between power failures and a war going on…she did it and please enjoy the results.
Litkovska is a Ukrainian brand founded in 2009, which has won several international awards and is becoming increasingly well-known. For several seasons now, the brand has been included in the official calendar of Paris Fashion Week, blending cultural heritage and modernity. Since the beginning of the war in February 2022, Lilia Litkovska has found refuge in Paris, from where she alerts the fashion world to the situation in her country. Refusing to give in to oppression, she continues to produce her collections in Ukraine, where she travels every month. Created under the bombs, sirens, power cuts and supply difficulties of every seam, every fibre in the ‘On Air’ collection is an ode to resilience.
For her new collection “On Air” presented in the mythical setting of the Grand Rex, Lilia Litkovska summons up a new vision of everyday luxury and questions the notion of image. In a world where overexposure to cameras, smartphones and mirrors pushes us to wear a mask, to cloak ourselves in filters, “On Air” invites us to face up to it. In the face of the horror caused by the war that Ukraine is facing and against which Ukrainians can no longer wear masks. They present themselves as they are, without artifice, fighting to survive. Physically and emotionally.
Litkovska emphasises the power of defending values, whatever the cost.
Lilia Litkovska, through her creations, establishes a new wardrobe a raw and vibrant form. Like an outfit that reflects the wearer for who they really are, intrinsically.
The silhouettes in the collection are complemented by accessories and jewellery in the shape of horses. A tribute to the shepherds of the Carpathian mountains who used to carve little horses out of cheese to give to their children and all the people dear to their hearts. As unifying symbols, Litkovska wants to bring recognition and goodwill to the guests of her show, to the fashion industry, which supports her, and to her customers.
