SANKUANZ Autumn/Winter 2021 Collection – PFW Men’s – Text by Ivo Barraza Castaneda

SANKUANZ presented their AW21 collection through a breathtaking film, half a runway show, half everything that makes an absolutely sophisticated author film. The elements that make the film are actually very simple. If you consider that the Eiffel Tower is really just an everyday view for Parisians, but nevertheless the beauty of this fashion films allows you to discover a new Eiffel Tower, a black one, isolated one. (In fact this video shot in Tianducheng known as the ‘Paris of China’) The cinematography of the walk in the second location is also incredible, Ovation to the photography director.

The collection seems to be divided into two major families, first a family of pieces derived by the aesthetics of subculture and a second one where you find just very sophisticated tailoring, sometimes embellished in crystals, sometimes mat and clean. Personally I find the subculture inspired pieces really amazing, the use of burned materials and spray paint within oversized thick silhouettes is definitely what we should dream about wearing in the next fall.

Hello, my name is Ivo. My three favorite things in life are: Thinking deeply about visual creation. I like having long discussions of ideas that might reinvent the course of history. And finally, spending time with the people I love. Since I was a child, I was always involved in some activity around plastic arts, music and literature. That’s how I learned to sew by hand at the age of five, which later led me to focus on my main professional media: Fashion Design.
