It was quite an emotional moment for two reasons one, of course the honor bestowed upon Franc' Pairon and the other that Franc' announced she is going back to Belgium and leaving the position she held for the last 13 years, Director of the Progam of Creation at l'Institut Francais de la Mode. Prior to IFM, Franc' spent 13 years directing and in fact instituting the fashion program at la Cambre. Let's just say these are not going to be easy shoes to step into…
Monsieur Didier Grumbach, President of the Federation Francaise de la Couture, and Pret-a-porter of Couturiers et des Createurs de Mode gave a very moving talk that was both gentle, warm and informative.
Jean Paul Lespagnard, I had not seen him since last season.
Franc' received a standing ovation, her force in the world of fashion education will certainly be missed. Who knows what her next step will be but she is not calling this retirement.
