I’m not sure why but NASA sends the first Koala into space- April Fools?

Rodney is following three former Australian astronauts Philip K. Chapman, Paul Scully-Power and Andy Thomas and will be the first Queensland member in space.

Sounds like an April fools joke to me, but maybe not.
