The renowed painter ans sculptor Gary Hume is known for his use of radiant panes of glossy color. In his first major monograph he uses imagery as diverse as polar bears, snowmen and super models. The paintings are simplistic but engaging and blend naivety with sophistication in his use of the colour wheel.
His trademark gloss combined with the flatness of his form and composition suggest an air of melancholy.
