An amazing night I went to hear Melvin Van Peebles and my friend Satch Hoyt’s group Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber, Greg Tate directing, at the Theatre Romain Rolland Villejuif. I’d never been to Villejuif before only know it as the end of the pink line. I’ve been a fan of Melvin Van Peebles’ films since Sweet Sweetback Baaadassss.Satch knew that I wanted to meet Melvin, talk about ASVOFF of course, so he brought me into his dressing room. Have you ever seen a 79 year old man in such amazing shape, he’s got a six pack… He was very cool, you cannot hear what we are saying but he’s speaking in French and he thinks I’m speaking in Spanish.
