Dear Shaded Viewers,
My friend Beniamino Marini found this old picture of the Biarritz beach in 1927 in a Taschen book: Travelogues by Burton Holmes 369 pages. How beautiful are those umbrellas with skirts? Like he said, if I'd lived in those years it would not have been a problem to spend many hours at the beach in complete shade.
