NO/AN in Paris – Photos by Michaël Smits

Dear Shaded Viewers,

Just in time for my trip to Bratislava, I received my beautiful NO/AN bag. It is the perfect size to hold all that I need – room for my book that I cannot wait to get back to, The Secret History by Donna Tartt, and all travel documents, glasses, liquids, etc. etc. Finnish designer Anna Lehmusniemi -the founder of slow bag brand NO/AN presents her collection every season in her cozy Marais space located on 43 rue de Poitou. Lehmusniemi launched NO/AN in 2016, trying to deal with the recklessness of fashion and find her own way. Her bags reconcile the timelessness of handcrafted objects with the enduring spirit of independent fashion. The result is beautifully crafted bags in grainy leather or precious ostrich, produced by a small atelier in Portugal. With the omnipresence of fast fashion and designer collections mushrooming everywhere, it’s nice to see creative minds ignore trends to focus on their own aesthetics instead. With models Rose Van Bosstraeten and Simon Nygard interpreting her vision this time, Lehmusniemi proves that her roomy and minimalist bags look equally great on men and women. Thanks to Philippe Pourhashemi for my introduction to the brand.

Later,

Diane
