With his new collection, Taiwanese designer Angus Chiang was – quite literally – driven by the symbolism of the scooter as a vehicle for daily emotions and towards progress. Greatly popular on his native island, the scooter is even nicknamed “flesh over metal”.
Metal was to be found in the cold sheen of coated fabrics, while the oversized knitwear and vivid hues boosted the naive, toyish quality of Chiang’s perspective.
Hints of humour popped through the many accessories, from distorted metallic earrings and hybrid glistening helmets to snail-like inflatable soles, or those ill-fitting impractical knit shoes the models had to shuffle in. Let’s hope that was intentional !
The collection also introduced a new ecological mesh textile developed with Mackent Fabrics.
