HAINES – A PRIVATE LINE – BY ALICE DEVELEY

Dear Diane and Shaded viewers,

« there are mistakes in the drawings, it’s not perfect. But, everything is so retouched and people like things untouched, man-made ». explains the artist, looking at his work. Full of humour and surprising, his creations are most of all very realistic. With his pencil stoke and his brushes, Richard Haines has drawn from life the today’s world. A black-and-white woman reading a book, a lady in her couch, doing her make-up, a man leaning on the wall, speaking to someone… As in a mirror, we recognize everything. Mixing the ideas of his blog « What I saw Today » and the fashion icons of pop art, Richard Haines has created a playful collection celebrating with talent the precious and the commonplace. A true moment of poetry, in the heart of the fashionweek.
