Dear Diane and Shaded Viewers,
you are going to love discourse on geometry. The newest collection of Ilja, Ingenium Existere, is a masterpiece of architecture. In the garden of the Residence of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, between magnificent trees and spring flowers spangling the grass, tops have paraded with grace and sensual delight in sculpted garments. In clean-cut outfits, sharp sateen or heavy silk cotton, they have unveiled unstructured creations freely inspired from the 90s denim look with cargo-pants, oversized jackets and baggy dungarees.
In her collection, Ilja has turned into a talented artist : "it's about sculpting shapes and materials. The collection takes the shapes of diamonds, minerals… and takes them colours : onyx blacks, rose quarts pinks, deep azurite blues". Interested in the correspondances between the plain and striatal, the natural and the technical, Ilja has recreated a world of harmony. It was dared, original but most of all unique and successful.
