I was scouting all over Mexico City today for a location for my next two films. We have been looking for a particular place to shoot for the past month and have recently stepped up the search with the help of the amazing Luli and her team at GALANTE PRODUCCIONES.
At some point during the scout, I remembered how much I really enjoy location scouting as one discovers cities in ways you would never see them on a normal pedestrian trip. While scouting I am always introduced to very local spots that I would never see on my own. I find looking for location very inspiring. If I had the time and the money I would location scout in every city I travel to just to learn the city and find amazing places to shoot, weather I had a project going on or not.
These photos, dont have much to do with the location I am looking for but we happen to go to the roof top of this cool condo complex in Polanco on our travels. The first building (of the pics below) reminds me of something I have seen in Tokyo many years ago.
The crazy thing about Mexico City is depending on the part of city and the colonial you are in, it looks like a different world capitals and in some places an amazing mixtures of styles and architecture can be found. The city is enormous. For those of you who don't have any imagination of Mexico City, and confuse it with the images of boarder towns and drug wars of the North, feast your eyes on the cities beauty. Viva Mexico.
